To set up the Company Tracker:

The Company Status Explained: Dormant

All of our company reports include a “Company Status” field. In this series of blogs we shall define what each status means. Today we’ll look at the “Dormant” status.

As defined by Companies House:

“A company is dormant if it has had no “significant accounting transactions” during the accounting period. A “significant accounting transaction” is one which the company should enter in its accounting records.

The amount paid for shares on the formation of a company and a few costs that the company may incur in order to keep the company registered at Companies House do not count as significant accounting transactions”.

Remember, the “Company Status” field will be empty if the company has not yet filed accounts.

Do Company Documents have an Expiry Date?

company documents and expiry datesLast week in our post titled “Why on earth do Company Reports expire?” we wrote about, well, the title says it all really. So we know that our company reports expire but do company documents purchased via us expire?

No. Reports only expire because they would eventually include completely outdated information. This is not an issue with company documents as they highlight one specific act of a company’s lifetime. Unlike a report, a document will not change.

Where’s the Credit Rating?

One of the primary reasons for purchasing a company credit report is to find a company credit rating. Because of this we have made finding this information from within the report as simple as possible.

To find a company’s credit rating purchase either our “Standard Credit” or “Fully Comprehensive” company report. Our “Snapshot” report does not include this information.

If viewing the report from your account on the site just click the “Rating & limit” tab, the credit rating will be displayed from here. If viewing from a PDF “Ratings” can be found in the second sub heading when scrolling through the report.

Why on earth do Company Reports expire?

comapny reportAll company reports purchased with Company Searches Made Simple expire after one year. You may think that this is simply a money making exercise on our part but there’s a valid reason behind this. Company reports are correct up to the moment they are purchased, they then become static. Changes made post-purchase are not reflected in the report.

Therefore we deemed one year an appropriate time to remove reports from your account as information contained within them could be completely outdated. If the thought of parting with you company reports is too much, don’t worry, you can always save them to your computer.
